Mixing Fundamentals

Learn the principles and techniques of mixing using Waves industry standard processors. This 3-day class serves as an introduction to mixing in Pro Tools using Waves plug-ins. The course tuition includes the 3-day class and all courseware, as well as full authorizations for five (5) Waves plug-ins covered in the course. Through a series of lectures, examples and hands-on exercises, students will learn the basics of creating a great mix in Pro Tools. Although the class focuses specifically on Wave processors, the mixing concepts learned in this course can easily be applied to any plug-in set or analog outboard hardware.

Topics Include:

•  Wave Processors: Overview, Authorization and Setup
  
• Understanding and Using EQ to Blend & Balance a Mix
  
• Understanding and Using Compressors and Limiters to Control Dynamics.
  
• Using Reverb and Delay to Create Mix Depth and Dimension

Prerequisites

Basic Computer Skills, Pro Tools 101, and Pro Tools 110 Required.

Equipment

Each student will be provided with a Pro Tools workstation for use during class, equipped with the five (5) Waves plug-ins listed above.  A Pro Tools Workstation consists of a computer (Mac or PC), Pro Tools software, Digidesign hardware (LE or HD), various computer plug-ins, a MIDI controller, and headphones.
